Holidays
Apply a country's public holidays, or your own feed, to some hosts as time away.
A holiday calendar keeps out of office entries up to date for the hosts you choose, one per host and day, in each host's own time zone.
const { : } = await ...({
: "UK team",
: "GB",
: { : "london" },
});host_filter is asked again at every sync, so someone joining the team picks up its holidays. Or name hosts. Holidays
are looked at a year ahead, and synced daily.
Regional holidays
Some of a country's holidays aren't everyone's: Germany's list has Saxony's Repentance Day, and most of Australia's are for one state. All of them apply unless you say otherwise, since showing a host as away on a day they work costs less than booking them on a day they don't. Name who to keep:
await ...({
: "London",
: "GB",
: ["England"],
: { : "london" },
});regions matches how the calendar names them, which its list of holidays
shows as region: England matches "England, Wales, Northern Ireland". An empty list keeps only nationwide holidays. A
half-day holiday counts as the whole day.
Your own feed
Give ics_url instead of country, for company closures or anything else. It's https or webcal, and stored encrypted,
since links like these often hold an access token, so it's never shown again. Only whole-day events count. Feeds are only
read in live environments.
If a feed can't be read, what's there stays, and last_error says so. It never takes holidays away because of a bad read,
and a feed that's suddenly empty counts as one: delete the calendar to take them all away.
Cover and bookings
delegates can be booked in their place on those days. With
existing_bookings: "reassign", bookings already on a holiday move to them,
and otherwise to whoever's free. By default they stay, and the host's told how many there are.
Opting out
Entries are ordinary ones, so a host can remove one, and it stays removed: coss.com won't add that day back. A holiday that drops out of the feed, or a host who leaves the calendar, loses its future entries.
What people booking see
Nothing about why: entries say public_holiday, and a holiday's name only appears on the calendar's own
list of holidays. Names come from outside and aren't screened, so they
never go in an email.
Which calendars there are
Countries use their ISO code, such as GB or US, and there are five faiths: CHRISTIAN, HINDU, JEWISH, MUSLIM
and ORTHODOX. They come from Google's public calendars.
